Short Form Death Certificate Law

I co-sponsored Public Act 25-97, An Act Concerning Various
Revisions to the Public Health Statutes, which creates a short-form
death certificate that omits the cause and manner of death. By
removing sensitive details from the publicly accessible record, the
law protects the privacy of the deceased, their families, and their
estates—particularly during probate—while still meeting legal and
administrative needs and limiting disclosure of intimate information.
This measure does not replace the traditional death certificate; it
simply provides an additional option.
